If you’ve noticed your skin changing in ways that seem disconnected from what you’re doing at home, you’re not imagining it. The dryness that doesn’t respond to any moisturizer you’ve tried. The skin that suddenly feels thinner, looser, more reactive. The lines that appeared faster than you expected. The peach fuzz that wasn’t there a few years ago.

This is not about aging generally. It is specifically about what estrogen does and what happens to your skin when estrogen starts to decline.
I know this because I lived it, and because I have spent years working professionally with skin at every stage of life. When I entered perimenopause, I went looking for answers and found mostly silence. The spa industry wasn’t talking about it. Doctors weren’t bringing it up. And the facials I had known and trusted for years were doing almost nothing for the skin I now had.
That experience is why the Meno “Pause” Facial® exists. But before we get to the treatment, let’s talk about what is actually happening to your skin, because understanding it changes everything.
What Estrogen Has to Do With Your Skin
Estrogen is not just a reproductive hormone. It plays a significant role in skin health throughout your life. Estrogen supports collagen production, maintains skin thickness, helps the skin retain moisture, and regulates sebum production. When estrogen levels decline, which begins in perimenopause, often years before your last period, all of those functions are affected.
Research shows that women lose nearly a third of their dermal collagen in the first five years after menopause. Collagen continues to decline at roughly 2% per year for the following decade. At the same time, the skin’s moisture retention drops significantly, the barrier function weakens, inflammation increases, and the fine vellus hair on the face (peach fuzz) can become coarser and more visible.
The result is skin that is simultaneously drier, thinner, less elastic, duller, more prone to redness, and more reactive to products you may have used without issue for years. That is a lot to deal with at once, and most women are dealing with it without any professional guidance.

Why Standard Facials Fall Short
Most facials are built around skin types: oily, dry, combination, sensitive. They are not built around hormonal skin transitions. A hydrating facial will add moisture temporarily. A brightening facial will address dullness in the short term. But neither is designed to work with the specific biology of menopausal skin. The collagen loss, the barrier dysfunction, the muscle laxity, and the changed texture.
When I started developing the Meno “Pause” Facial®, my goal was to build a treatment that addressed all of the most common menopausal skin concerns in a single session, using both clinical-grade techniques and FDA-cleared technology. Not a modified anti-aging facial. Something purpose-built.
What the Meno “Pause” Facial® Actually Does
This is a proprietary, 10-step facial treatment designed specifically for perimenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal skin. It is the only facial of its kind with a registered US trademark (Reg. No. 7,893,807). Here is what the treatment includes and why each step matters for menopausal skin:
• Dermaplaning of the face. Removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz using a surgical-grade blade. Menopausal skin accumulates dead cells more slowly, making manual exfoliation essential for product absorption and texture. This is also the most effective way to address the increased vellus hair that many women experience.
• Chemical peel (skin type specific) and Pro-Power eye peel. A clinical-grade chemical exfoliation that targets hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and uneven texture. The eye area is treated separately because it requires a specialized formula. Hormonal changes accelerate pigmentation changes, and retinol is one of the best-studied ingredients for collagen support.
• Nano-infusion of a skin-type specific serum. A pain-free device that drives active ingredients, most often hyaluronic acid, deeper into the layers of the skin. Menopausal skin has a compromised moisture barrier, which means topical products applied on the surface often do not penetrate adequately. Nano-infusion gets past that barrier.
• Bio-Therapeutic microcurrent sculpting. True microcurrent technology that stimulates and lifts the facial muscles. Estrogen loss affects muscle tone, not just skin tissue. Microcurrent is one of the few non-invasive methods with documented effects on facial muscle lifting and contouring.
• Customized mask with targeted serums. Built around the specific needs of your skin on that day: hydration, calming, brightening, or firming. Not a one-size-fits-all formula.
• Celluma FDA-cleared red light therapy. Red light at the correct clinical frequency stimulates ATP production in skin cells and accelerates the natural repair processes that declining estrogen disrupts. It promotes collagen production, reduces inflammation, and improves circulation. This is not an add-on. It is built into the treatment.
• Shoulder, neck and arm massage with cooling stones and gua sha tools. Designed with hot flashes in mind. The cooling stones provide relief if your body runs hot. Gua sha supports lymphatic drainage and facial contouring. The massage is not just relaxation. It activates circulation and addresses tension that builds in the jaw and neck.
• Advanced anti-aging serums and SPF. The treatment closes with serums selected for your skin and a medical-grade SPF. Sun protection is especially important for menopausal skin, which produces less melanin and is more susceptible to UV-triggered pigmentation.

Who This Facial Is For
The Meno “Pause” Facial® is designed for women in perimenopause, menopause, or the postmenopausal years. If you are in your late 30s or 40s and starting to notice changes in your skin that seem beyond what a good moisturizer can fix, perimenopause may already be a factor. If you are in your 50s and managing hot flashes, dryness, and loss of firmness, this treatment was built for exactly that.
You do not need to have a diagnosis or a specific timeline. You need to be experiencing the kinds of skin changes described in this post.
